If you have had a baby within the last couple of years, you probably have heard about push presents. This seems to be a relatively new thing that is gaining popularity. It is basically a gift for the new mom from her husband for “pushing” because lets face it… pushing a baby out is hard work!
When I had Noelle, I didn’t really get a push present and my labor was LONG. This labor was MUCH shorter but it was furious! I had started thinking about getting a push present this time around. I researched a little and found some great different ideas. I wanted to share some different ideas with you below and then scroll to the bottom to see what push present I got!
1. Essential Oils
Essential oils are great gifts for a new mom. Especially ones like lavender which promote relaxation.
2. Birthstone Jewelry
Birthstone jewelry is a very typical push present. If you have multiple kids, stackable birthstone rings are always a great choice
See here for some really nice options. The great thing about birthstone jewelry is it has become really affordable. Most birthstone rings are made with silver, the birthstone, and white sapphires. I found quite a few options for around $60 even!
Stackable rings were not an option for me since both my girls are born in December (so same birth stone).
3. Back massager
There are so many different options here. You can go extravagant or affordable. I have a simple one from Walmart that cost me less than $50. It works pretty well too.
4. Housekeeping
This is by far one of the most helpful options for a new mom. Pay for a month of housekeeping services (or maybe even a year!). We have a housekeeper that comes every other week. We started this when I got pregnant because I was so utterly exhausted all the time. Now that I have a newborn and a toddler, the exhaustion hasn’t stopped haha!
5. A Massage
Book her a massage! Labor is hard work. It is hard on the body and the mind. I know I felt so sore all over after giving birth. I still feel sore and I am 3 weeks post partum! A massage can be a wonderful gift. If you are wanting something a little “more” maybe buy her a set of massages!
Ok so what did I get??? Well, I did end up getting jewelry. It was not the typical birthstone ring, but in a way it is. I went to Zales to buy a birthstone ring but I ended up buying this:
Now while the typical mom probably wouldn’t want a snowflake ring for a push present, it worked perfectly for me! This is the Elsa ring from the Disney Enchanted Collection at Zales. I adore snowflakes and it was absolutely appropriate since both of my girls are December babies. In a way it IS a birthstone ring! It also helped that it was massively discounted when I purchased it! They have a lot of other unique jewelry as well. If you are a Disney mom/family (like we are) you should definitely check it out!
